Knowing that people learn through a variety of methods, Blanche Marie draws from several well known method books to personalize the instruction to the pupil's needs and strengths. She believes that choosing one method book for every student doesn't make sense because each student's needs are different. The method books used depend on the needs of the students and the instruments they are learning. Blanche Marie tries to incorporate duets within the lesson whenever possible to assist the student in growing from playing notes to making music. Read More

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am passionate about all things music. I am a graduate of Stetson University's prestigious School of Music and clarinet studio, where I pursued my Bachelor's in Clarinet Performance with a minor in Business Administration. Having a well-rounded education is very important to me and I am grateful to have received what I did. I have experience in Symphonic Bands, Orchestras, Marching Band, Chamber groups, and Operas, on Bb, A, Bass, and Eb clarinet, and on Saxophone and flute as well in various gigs and jazz ensembles. I love to teach students from the beginning how to have good habits such as, breathing from the belly area. Not only practicing this to support a beautiful tone on the flute, but recognizing how developing a supportive breath practice also reduces stress.. It is also a known fact that according to Dr. Frances Rauscher of the University of California Irvine, with her presentation to the American Psychological Association's Convention, that "early music training seems to shape the young brain, strengthening neural connections and perhaps establishing new ones." For beginners, they must learn how to play the instrument. So books like standard of excellence or essential elements are great resources. I will guide them through what the book cannot explain and help them truly internalize aspects of playing their instrument. For more advanced players, we will work on tone, advanced technique, new styles as well as history, modern practices and more. Depending on their progress , I will ensure any recital music is music that they want to play, as well as music that really shows their progress on the instrument. Read More

While studying, I was a flute teacher at the Music School Amarilis as well as teaching a few students that took classes at their home. My flute class consisted of a wide range of induviduals. I was able to manage a plan for each student that would assure that we would acomplish their goals by the end of the year. Beside enjoying the music itself, one of the very important parts of learning any insturment is that the sutudent practices regurarly. Read More

My initial lesson with the student is to learn what they do and do not know and to establish proper playing and hand techniques. I interact with the students to learn what they enjoy playing and what they want to accomplish as well. It is very important to me to make music fun and interesting for them to learn. I spend the majority of the lesson going over what they were assigned the previous week and then the last part of the lesson is going over what I am assigning for the next lesson and playing some of the music so they can hear what it is supposed to sound like.
