Instruments: Piano Voice Flute

I usually find out the student's musical preferences and try to pick songs from that style, meanwhile, introducing them to classical music or folk music and helping them pick music to work on from that genre.  I follow a similar pattern with flute lessons. As a musician and teacher, I primarily view music as one means of artistic self-expression. In my students journey of self-expression, I will help them to learn music history, music theory, and different musical cultures which can influence their perspective on the world around them, as well as how they see themselves. Through music I teach self-discipline, patience, and good practice methods while learning the flute. In my studio, I teach the typical cannon flute repertoire while encouraging students to find a piece, no matter what style or genre, they would like to learn each quarter. Read More

In addition, I also have given workshops on topics such as stage presence, vibrato, and intonation, and have conducted three different flute choirs. I always try to gear lessons to individual needs; for those who want to enjoy playing, I can provide fun as well as structure to lead improvement -- and for those who wish to be competitive musicians, I can provide the necessary framework to help you reach your goals.
