In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Clarinet Performance at Morehead State University, and in April 2018 I graduated with my Master of Music degree at the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music. I have performed in various professional and semi-professional musical settings including: 2 years in the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, playing out of clarinet/flute/saxophone books for multiple musicals, and most recently traveling around the Midwest states playing clarinet for the Guerrilla Chamber Collective (a chamber group dedicated to performing new music by up-and-coming composers). I began teaching in Mississippi in 2011 to college students at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Cincinnati, I began teaching preschool music. I began developing a preschool curriculum at the University of Cincinnati's Preparatory Program that combined reading, dancing, singing and imagining. After teaching privately for a year, I began my position as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Outreach (COR) Music Project. I believe that fundamentals, as outlined above, are crucial to master for a student to truly understand their instrument. When a solid foundation has been established, it is much easier to approach those more complicated concepts. It then allows everything that a student do to become easier and truly move forward in their learning at an accelerated pace. I began teaching beginner students when I was 16 years old and have been doing it ever since. It's never seemed like a "job" to me. I enjoy the excitement of a first-time student making their first sound to sight-reading duets with more experienced students. I started a flute choir at a local high school and would love to start one of my own at my studio. I began teaching private lessons when starting college, and have maintained a studio of various woodwind students of various ages since 2011. In the time between then, I have been involved as a private instructor, small chamber coach, full band director, and covered any other position possible for many schools; I have ample experience in teaching and performing many styles common in the school system.
