My experience in teaching began in college, teaching younger college students through my schools mentorship program. I also shadowed high school and middle school students lessons through the Hartt School Community division. I was able to learn to teach these students guided by several experienced and accomplished flute instructors. Now currently I am an adjunct flute instructor at NYU. I use what some have called the target approach. With this method you are working on one concept at a time, and you should always have one concept in mind while you practice. Some examples of beginning concepts are 1) keeping a steady beat, 2) sound quality, or 3) smooth finger technique. In one practice session using the target approach you may spend 10 minutes on target 1) and 15 minutes on target 2). What is important, however, is that you continue to work on a target every day until you find yourself performing that single concept flawlessly and effortlessly. Read More

I am a passionate jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator originally from Los Angeles area. In 2018, I graduated with B.A. in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently attending Manhattan School of Music for a Masters degree in Jazz Composition. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to perform with CSULB's Concert Jazz Orchestra at the 2017 Elmhurst Jazz festival in Chicago, the 2016-2018 LA Jazz Institute, and even have one of my compositions performed at the 2018 JEN Conference in Dallas Texas.
