I'm a former "Talent Grant" student of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in The Netherlands. I have performed a wide variety of works ranging in style from Marin Marais to Maurizio Pisati. As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, I can be found performing in venues all over the world from the Bass Hall in Ft. Worth to Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. After a year or two learning the fundamentals, scales and phrasing, then one gets to study the Ferling etudes for region band and a few basic solos for solo and ensemble. Upon graduation, I began teaching full time during the day at public schools and evenings in my own studio. I've been teaching privately for about 15 years, starting when I was a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Since that time, I've taught students on Saxophone, Flute, and Clarinet at all levels, from beginners all the way to advanced players in high school. My focus as an undergraduate was in jazz performance, and I love to teach about jazz techniques, beginning to advanced improvisation, and group dynamics. I have been playing piano since age 6 and clarinet since age 10. During my time at university I was taught to play all of the woodwinds, focused on pedagogy and music technology, and achieved many awards and recognition. My clarinet/woodwind pedagogy instructor was a student of Himie Voxman, author of many woodwind teaching method books. I like to have my students always preparing for something, whether it is an audition, recital, or competition. We do this by working on a combination of solos, etudes, fundamentals, duets, and sight-reading activities.
