For beginners, I will start lessons by assisting them to become familiar with their instrument and to learn all the names of the various parts of the instrument. All lessons will be catered to what it is that the student is excited to explore, be it music theory, instrumental techniques, improvisation, composition, arrangement, ear training, transcription, reading, playing in a group setting, or just learning a favorite song. In terms of lessons material, I will guide students when and where necessary and do have traditional modalities of approaching lessons that I will employ if I feel the student is lacking direction (i.e. Read More

Just like homeschooling, students will learn individually at their own pace. Students must enjoy their lesson. Sometimes the students may find it discouraging but it is my mission to give them acknowledgment in their accomplishments and nurturing so they can continue to flourish and be the best musicians they can be. My teaching experience spans 6 years. I've taught all ages, so I'm comfortable with everybodys learning pace. In college I studied under the Latin Grammy award winning La Catrina Quartet, and I hope to pass down the knowledge I gain from that experience to my students. With my students, I take them step by step through were they are as a musician, to were they need to be. My experience working in ensembles will also expand my students ability to play in groups of all sizes (which will often happen). Read More

My main goal and teaching is to inspire self motivation and make it fun! I like to pick songs that are fun to play and challenging at the same time depending on what level you are at that time. By doing this I think keeping the instrument out and not in the closet is a good start that way if the inspiration hits you and you want to play it is within your reach "guitar stand and wall hangers are ideal" and not in the case the put away " Out of sight out of mind" I suggest buying a music stand for your instruments and or wall hangers which seem to work very well as a display and also so the instrument is within your reach. I've been teaching music for more than 12 years now. I can honestly say that I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge of music. Not everyone can say that they truly enjoy their job so I feel blessed. I have taught hundreds of students ranging from ages 4 to 80! I have taught individuals, groups or online lessons. During the pandemic I was lucky to I keep working because of zoom lessons. I don't know what I would have done without zoom lessons. Read More

I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged. Most importantly it makes learning music fun! I love jazz and I encourage efforts of composition and improvisation to help the student take ownership of the notes they're learning. Read More

I truly believe that if students are happy and enjoying what they play they will want to practice and sound better. I encourage students to try classical but we will dive into a more modern approach. Original compositions can also be a fun great way for students to want to practice. I also have a strong music theory and technology background to really make sure they are amazed by understanding the world of music. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
