I began teaching in high school and have never stopped. I work hard to get to know my students and their interests so that their music lessons fit into their life. I believe that makes for more effective learning. I teach my students how to practice, which is an important skills. We work together to make improvements. Those that want to do competitions are encouraged to and I have a very good track record. Read More

My philosophy is mainly individualistic. If a student is young, there are many personalities you may encounter- some naturally focused, others not. While I will still aim to deliver essentially the same content, my approach with each child varies based on their attention span and focus. A lack of focus often hints at a creative bent, so I may listen a bit more than with a student naturally prone to taking directions. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Flute

I've been teaching private lessons since college. I've taught beginner piano and different levels of voice. I like to make sure my students have a strong foundation, but I also make sure they're enjoying their lessons! Music therapy is different than teaching private lessons, but I've worked with many different people throughout my time as a music therapist including; children with disabilities, geriatric patients, psychiatric patients, adults in memory care, and many others. Hello! I am a freelance jazz saxophonist and woodwind player living in Jersey City. In 2016, I graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in jazz saxophone performance. I am passionate about all things music. Whenever I am performing, playing, teaching, practicing, talking about, or listening to, music... that is where I want to be! I have played and performed many styles of music all across New Jersey and New York, from jazz at Dizzy's in New York, to classic rock at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, to pit orchestra music at various playhouses in New Jersey. I am a passionate educator and performer from the greater Boston area.  I love to see my students succeed and achieve their musical goals.  My students have gone on to the college level at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and University of New Hampshire.  At the undergraduate level, I played with the UNH Wind Symphony and the UNH Symphony Orchestra for three years.  I have had two full solo recitals at UNH, and I have had the opportunity to be recorded on the Wind Symphony CD: The Music of Daniel Bukvitch.  Upon graduating with two degrees I moved to New York City. Instruments: Flute

For beginners and younger students, I typically start with the Trevor Wye Beginner Method books or the Flute Student method book by Douglas Steensland. More intermediate students I will start out with the Rubank Method books. All of these books are tailored towards flute specifically, and have fairly comprehensive and progressive exercises that are very effective. I like to start out with a method book, and I can supplement with other materials to bet fit the needs of the student. Read More

Individual musical interests (such as jazz, pop, classical, or rock genres) are incorporated into each lesson, helping to streamline and facilitate the learning process. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
