My first experience teaching began in 2014 when I began working marching band camps as the flute tech. I was responsible for helping the students learn marching fundamentals and drill for the show, in addition to running music related sectionals with the flute section daily. I started teaching privately in the fall of 2017, teaching middle school and high school students. I typically teach based on my own custom lesson plan, which consists of a combination of exercises and working on specific pieces, as well as listening and sometimes composing. For online classes, I find it is useful to give students things to listen to outside of the lesson, and even for students to record themselves playing sometimes.
