An active orchestral musician, she has played under conductors like Kurt Masur, Eric Jacobsen, JoAnn Falletta, Alondra De La Parra, and George Manahan and worked with musicians including Sir James Galway, Robert Langevin, Carol Wincenc, Paula Robison, David Krakauer, and Charles Neidich. For beginning young students I prefer the Rubank Elementary Method for saxophone, clarinet and flute, and my own (unpublished) method for recorder. For older beginners, there are many books on the market. I'll work with what the student perfers. For more advanced students there are classic works such as Klose for clarinet or saxophone, solo works for competition or performance, or just for fun. For beginning students I typically start with Hannon and my own finger exercises. I ask the the student to draw notes on a staff so they can get familiar with reading and composing music. All students from beginner to advanced, are given warm up exercises and recommended pieces to play . After 30 years of teaching piano, organ and flute ,I have written my own lesson books series.
