Im Bailee! Im a dedicated and passionate flute player. I am currently a junior at the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Flute Performance! I was in marching band from 2015-2022 at both my high school and my university. Throughout high school, I regularly did All-Region auditions, State Solo and Ensemble, joined flute choirs, and attended summer camps for my instrument. As for university, I have won scholarships for the Texas Flute Society, have participated and performed at the Texas Flute Society festival, and I am currently playing in the UTA Symphony Orchestra. I have found that the most effective way for me to teach is to activate the student's self-motivation, rather than trying to serve as external motivation. We will spend some time discussing the student's goals, whether they are concrete or abstract. I understand that many students have different styles of practicing! For some of my students, we ran lessons like they were drill sessions, and for others, the lessons were all about taking a deeper look into the piece itself and going through passages separately to personalize the performance. I typically begin my young students in the Suzuki Method for Flute, inwhich I have received the training for this method. For older students, I begin them in the Trvor Wye Method for Beginning Flute Students. I supplement both these methods with solos appropriate for their level and goals, such as UIL and other competitions.
