During my time at university I was taught to play all of the woodwinds, focused on pedagogy and music technology, and achieved many awards and recognition. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000 and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I worked on my masters degree in music eduation from the University of North Carolia at Pembroke and received 18 hours graduate credit. After a year or two learning the fundamentals, scales and phrasing, then one gets to study the Ferling etudes for region band and a few basic solos for solo and ensemble.
