One of the things I find encourages students to practice is to give them mini rewards when they successfully play a piece or etude, such as stickers or stamps. When a solid foundation has been established, it is much easier to approach those more complicated concepts. It then allows everything that a student do to become easier and truly move forward in their learning at an accelerated pace.
