I am strongly influenced by Latin American culture and that is why I have been learning all the traditional music from severals countries. I had played in numerous ensembles including: Cambamberos Colombian music ensemble (Brazil),Orquestra de Berimbaus Paraguassu (Brazil), Tambora female South American music (Brazil), Trio Acstico de las Americas (Brazil), Chacombo Afro-peruvian ensemble (LA), CalArts Salsa Band (LA). I have found that showing instead of telling comes across really well in teaching. I like to break things down and make sure a student isn't wasting time trying to get something new. I make them set reasonable goals in the moment till they feel like they can walk away having something new under their belt. To me one of the most important parts of showing a student something new is explaining why they should learn it or why they should do an assignment and how they can apply these things to real musical situations. I'm a professional musician who enjoys working with students and passing along my knowledge of the arts. In 2013 I graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance and a Jazz Studies Certificate. During the summer of 2013, I attended New York University's Broadway Percussion Seminar and took private lessons on Timpani and sight reading. In 2015 I received my certification in the operation of Pro Tools in a recording studio and a degree in Contemporary Drum Performance from the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena. Read More

For most students, it is important to see where they are musically, regardless of the level, and craft a lesson plan to help them achieve their goals. There will be a balance between musical concepts and repertoire. The deeper we go in learning the song and learning the recording, the more the student will benefit. For young children I focus on learning the instrument, the fundamentals of sound, pitch and chords and keeping it fun and engaging with songs they like. Read More
