I began teaching about three years ago. I mostly have taught younger students, and I love to watch them learn and develop a passion for music. I like to look for fun ways to keep students motivated. I like to use lots of humor while I teach because I think learning should be fun, and music is an amazing art. I work with people of all ages on my worship team, and I love helping both people young and old continue to grow their knowledge and love of music. Read More

I adapt my methods to the needs, goals, and learning styles of each of my students, but for a child student who is just beginning lessons, the teaching process usually goes something like this: First, I get my students to have a basic handle on the names of the drums, counting, and playing a basic 4/4 rock groove. Next, I get them playing along to a simple rock or pop song. Read More

I enjoy giving my students control over their own learning process at times. This means that I will sometimes provide them choices within the context of what I am trying to teach them. I also make lessons fun by performing duets with students to take a break from the daily material. I also emphasize site-reading in every lesson to develop this much-neglected skill. All of these techniques are designed to keep the student mentally engaged because it is only then that they will truly be learning as much as possible. Read More

My teaching experience started in high school when I started teaching younger middle school students. During college I would also give lessons to beginners and then taught in studios. My extensive performing experience around the world has given me a well rounded education of music that I love to share with my students! If you want to learn rock songs, let's rock! If you want to jam to salsa records, let's salsa! Read More

I have a focus on rock and metal drums however can play and teach most styles. I believe drums need to be fun for a student to really enjoy playing and progressing, I can remember being a beginner and first "unlocking" independence between my hands and feet. I do believe the key is just to practice and find joy in that. Drums are one thing in life you can trick yourself into having fun exercising both body and mind as well as having something to be able to progress at, the only way to get better is to play, and playing is fun! My methods vary on the student and subject. Beginning students will typically focus more on technical pieces of music to improve on certain aspects of a few pieces to perform. More advanced students will still practice technical parts of their music, but less time will be spent on it during a lesson. Advanced level students will spend more time on repertoire and performance. The more advanced a student gets, the more I expect them to practice outside of lessons and apply their newly learned technical skills into their music on their own. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
