While at the Hartt School, she toured with the Wind Ensemble and performed in the CBDNA conference, and the 2007 MENC conference with the Orchestra and Chamber Choir as a guest percussionist. Throughout her degrees, she has performed five solo recitals and has commissioned a number of new works for percussion, including a concerto, percussion quartet, trio, and two solo works. Most of my students have never played drums before studying with me. With beginners I believe it's most important to learn a good technique for striking the drums as well as introducing the student to fundamental rhythms and musical practices. Many students want to learn to jam immediately and that's great. I suggest learning some basic reading as well as playing by memory and improvising. I have over 20 years experience teaching and performing in Spokane. I have performed with the Washington Air National Guard band since 1992. I performed with the concert band, marching band, jazz band, dixieland band as well as a marimba soloist. We performed all around the Inland Northwest. As a civilianI performedwith the Spokane symphony, Spokane civic theater,the Royal fireworks concert and as a marimba soloist.
