Bachelor of Music - Percussion Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder
Played in symphonic band, symphony orchestra, jazz combos, latin jazz band, brazilian batucada drum ensembles, and more.
I love teaching and sharing the joy of music with others! In 2011, I graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor's in Percussion Performance. I've performed all over the world on cruise ships and touring with artists. I've played in numerous bands in the Los Angeles area of all genres. I also compose music for television shows. -I've taught lessons for 10 years. I've taught 5 and 6 year olds, middle and high school aged students mallets and drum set, and even congas to seniors!
My teaching experience started in high school when I started teaching younger middle school students. During college I would also give lessons to beginners and then taught in studios. My extensive performing experience around the world has given me a well rounded education of music that I love to share with my students! If you want to learn rock songs, let's rock! If you want to jam to salsa records, let's salsa! If you want to groove to some soul and funk tunes, let's get funky! I've played it all so I can teach you!
My lessons are all about fun! I see what you can play already, what you like to listen to, and I adapt to how you learn best. I pick songs that you enjoy that are also going to teach you how to play the drums! At the same time, I'll introduce exercises that relate to what we're playing that will transfer to other songs. I push my students to the limit but it works really well and I've seen my students grow quickly!-Knowing the basics and technique is important, so we go over that every lesson. But also learning about feeling and playing with your emotions and soul is just as important, so I try to remind my students about that all the time.
Teaching is all about relating it to the student. Making sure the student is engaged. I adapt to the student and teach them what they want to learn. I'm always here to help and guide the student to what they should know or how they should be playing, but it's ultimately up to them how they're accomplishing everything. Students don't have to tell me this- it's my job as a teacher to recognize it in each student. I can guide you to play exactly how you want to your favorite songs so you can play with the best musicians out there.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
