Immersed in the dynamic arts community, I served on the Board of the Pocatello Arts Council, nurturing my passion for both performance and advocacy. Currently, I am delving deeper into the nuances of jazz at New York University, pursuing my Master's degree in Jazz Studies under the mentorship of acclaimed drummer Ari Hoenig. My dedication to musical excellence and cultural exchange shines through in every performance, blending traditional rhythms with contemporary flair. Read More

I have been teaching since I was 16. I frequently ran sectionals in my high school as well as at multiple youth orchestras. I taught privately on and off throughout high school and college. I encourage regular practice and help build problem-solving skills because in the end, you are your own best teacher. I also believe that the student should get exactly what they want out of their lessons, so we can be as flexible as we want with styles and of course, have fun! Read More

Practice regularly: Consistent practice is key to improving as a drummer. I might encourage students to set aside a certain amount of time each day or week for practice, and to break down their practice sessions into smaller, more manageable chunks. 3. Use a variety of exercises: To keep things interesting and help students learn more effectively, I might incorporate a variety of exercises into my lessons. This might include rudiments, beats from different styles of music, and sight-reading exercises. 4. Read More

I belive in meeting the student where they are . Not everyone learns the same way. So I try my best to meet the student where they are at. Sometimes that means working out of a book...there are many great drum books. We can work together to find the one that is right for you. Somtimes, I simply work with the student to identiufy goals and then put together a plan to achieve those goals. Read More

Ive taught students of all ages and various skill levels for almost 20yrs. Its great to pass along experience and perspective to students helping them grow in their abilities to play and appreciate music. I'm kind of a hybrid musician that has had opportunities to work with many professional musicians and also to study with several great musicians in their own right. Ive had great tremendous opportunities to play all over the US and also in South America. Read More

One thing I strongly encourage is the student to go at his/her pace. There is no judgement on the capability of learning an instrument and because of that I completely understand how long (or how short) a student can learn the drums/piano etc. I try to make every student feel accomplished in a session especially when the material being taught is new and intimidating. But regardless, there will always be a sense of accomplishment because as long as the student feels as if they accomplished something(small or large) I will make it my duty to make sure they know it.
