I've been teaching music since I was in high school, starting with voice lessons. In college, many of my friends and friends of friends asked me to tutor them in voice, music theory, writing, and various instruments. Now, I have many private students that I meet with in person and over zoom and teach group classes as well. I think it's important that music students get to work on repertoire that excites them. I first started teaching in 2008 in Paris, for groups of 10 students. I have had 3-5yo classes, 6-8 and 9 to 12. It was a very enriching experience to teach for such a young age, and very challenging to have so many students in the same class room! I have since then moved to New York City, and have been teaching one on one lessons for piano, guitar and voice. I adapt to the student's needs and interests. Read More

By late high school I began teaching private lessons and began preforming local shows with bands. After a few years of private lessons, I was offered a percussion teaching position at the private music school, Tri-Key Music Center, in Hawthorne NJ. Teaching a wide variety of ages and styles, from 5 year olds to 55 year olds, from pop drumming to traditional hand drums, this forced me to broaden my musical abilities further to meet the needs of my students. In addition to partimento, I use other traditional methods. For beginner students who are children, I typically start with the James Bastien method. I like this method because it combines reading and playing the piano from the very beginning in a well-structured progression. Then it introduces important new concepts with fun (if charmingly old-fashioned) songs designed for teaching. As the student progresses, I like to use Hanon exercises for developing finger strength, and classical repertory for use in performance. Read More

Nothing beats seeing one of my pupils acquire an interest in music! As a result, each student must proceed at their rate. At each lesson, I promote this by setting realistic goals for my pupils, either learning the most challenging parts of a song or just learning a simple phrase that was hard previously. Recognizing accomplishments fuels students' desire to advance and prepares them to learn more. By attempting to discover what motivates the student, I can appropriately personalize my training to their wants and needs. Read More

I teach a variety of music to a variety of people, ranging from classical composition to hip-hop songwriting and production, classical voice to pop, rock, and punk vocals, baroque piano to free jazz synthesizers, and maybe noteverything in between, but I try to get close.I have been teaching privately since 2006, with a special focus on teaching both children and adults with special needs. On top of that, I also am an adjunct instructor and engineer at Borough Manhattan Community College, where I teach students and other faculty alike the ins and outs of the recording studio. Read More
