Once this has been established we work on a plan of action to acheive those goals. Since the vast majority of drum students are primarily interested in learning drumset skills, we will start working on this from the very first lesson. For beginner, start with simply touching every part of Drum set, thus students can see how it sounds like, and how fun it is to simply hit the drums. After that I would start with hand technique, which is 3 basic stroke patter, and how to apply them to every part of Drum set. For beginners, I will start with no sticks in the hands at all! Just tapping on your legs with your hands and getting all of the limbs to work together is hard enough! Then we will put sticks in your hands and learn technique, and finally introduce reading music. One step at a time is the best as to not overwhelm the student.
