I like to start younger students off with sticking, familiarity with the instrument, basic rudiments and basic notation/reading. Once they have a grasp on basic rhythmic concepts, I like to teach functional grooves so students can begin to play music with others. My emphasis is peformance, and teaching functional grooves/ideas/fills as well as classic percussion literature helps students feel confident in performing. Hello whoever you are, I am Andreas. I come from Sweden and live in San Fernando Valley, CA (Los Angeles). I started playing the drums at the age of 5 and played in bars when I was in my young teens. At the age of 16, I won first place the annual Swedish Championships in Drums. Quite an interesting concept, no? Next year, I won it all again. In 2013 I graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance and a Jazz Studies Certificate. During the summer of 2013, I attended New York University's Broadway Percussion Seminar and took private lessons on Timpani and sight reading.
