This school has now grown to be the birthplace of many great young Swedish musicians, included myself. Already working on pro-gigs in Sweden, I made a different choice than most of my friends. Instead I decided to move, by myself, from Sweden to Los Angeles and become a professional drummer. When I moved to LA, I was in dire need to get a gig. Let me tell you. It wasn't easy, but I did end up landing a gig with Lady Gaga, one summer in 2009. Read More

I also led the weekly performance programs with up to 25 students, preparing them for seasonal shows at popular venues. I have extensive in-home and online teaching experience as well, which includes arranging optimal commute schedules and recitals at schools and theaters. So, whether the student is a kindergartner singing ABC by Jackson 5, a 14-year-old learning recording basics, a 19-year-old preparing for a national theatre competition, a 40-year-old learning melody writing, or a 70-year-old learning the keys to Tell Me Something Good by Rufus, I can creatively adapt to the student's unique learning style and background on many different instruments. For older students, I integrate a more disciplined routine and, as earlier mentioned, allow their goals and intrests to inform the lesson plan, writing out excercises personally. Generally the first third of the lesson is spent on fundamentals and warm up, the middle on the material we are working on, and something fun and/or new at the end (kind of like the scrimmage at the end of soccer practice). I approach teaching as a purely collaborative endeavor. In initially meeting a student, I ask many questions in order to gage what has inspired the student to study drums, and what particular genres of music and/or artists have brought them to the point of lesson inquiry. I use this information to construct a plan that seeks to meet both short-term and long-term goals. My teaching style is very high-spirited, laid back, yet, demanding - with a touch of fun humor. The most important goal to me when teaching anyone of any level is to have them leave feeling like they've actually learned something. I feel as a teacher that the students wants and needs are paramount and should be treated as such. I like to work with whatever pace they're comfortable with and do my best to accommodate them with what they may want out of drumming. I like a laid back, welcome atmosphere with absolutely no judgement in said atmosphere and always be supportive of the student making progress in their endeavors. Read More

For all my students, I like to get down to where the joy comes from. I channel that throughout the lessons to keep a motivative approach on channeling what made them choose drums in the first place. I start every students experience with the question why drums?. And once I have their answer, I can begin to construct a plan for each student and their desires for the instrument. Anybody can show you rudiments, drum patterns notation..i'm here to show you how to be the best musician you can be using tips and tricks i've obtained over my years of experience. Read More

My teaching method is relatively simple, but is somewhat backwards from how most people teach music. I start with teaching the student a song, at his/her level, by listening to the record and by my example. After that I like to go back and give written out exercises and notes on what we did in the song. Often times a student will get a technical exercises and begin to get frustrated with it because they can't see why they're learning it. Read More
