I have advanced marching band/drumline experience, playing each different drum for multiple performances. I have performed in parades and football games, and competitively in settings like the Lucas Oil Stadium and Ross-Ade Stadium. Additionally, I am adept in concert/orchestral performance, having participated in large and small ensembles at Ball State University. I have also played for show choirs and broadway-style orchestra pits, giving me a wide range of abilities that are valuable to any musician. Read More

I teach from a feel and improvisation stand point. I do start with basic rhythm studies but I love to allow for my students to explore the kit and their own comfort levels. It creates what I feel to be a sense of intimacy between them and the instrument. I believe that feeling comfortable with your instructor and your instrument harbor a much more positive and motivational learning impact on the student. Read More

I've found the most successful drummers can read well and play all styles. For beginning students, I generally introduce 'Syncopation' by Ted Reed along with 'Stick Control,' the PASIC 40 Rudiments, 'Alfred's Drum Method' for drum set, and technical exercises. For more advanced students, I like to use books like Rick Latham's 'Advanced Funk Studies,' David Garibaldi's 'Future Sounds,' 'Portaits in Rhythm' by Anthony Cirone, and 'The Art of Bop Drumming' by John Riley. I believe in getting the student interested in the concepts and styles themselves, i like to introduce them to different ways of playing and my main method is to show them how it can be exciting to play/learn. For eg, for someone who loves games, I would show them how to play chords and melody ( on a piano ) at the same time by using the Minecraft theme song as an example, or any game that they might know and enjoy so it gets them interested to want to play and learn, through that i will show them dfferent techniques and concepts, this way they are already enjoying what they are learning and at no point will not want to practice it on their own. I have had a good amount of performance and education experience, and look forward to passing the torch onto other ambitious, aspiring musicians. I have taught at two private music lesson agencies, one called Music Maker where I taught Brass in Anaheim Hills, as well as AMI music in Brea, CA where I taught beginner guitar. I have always had fun learning and making music, so to help someone else do the same is my primary objective. Read More

To witness students making progress and share their passion for music is quite rewarding. I love to see how teaching music can also affect students in their personal lives. Some teaching methods can be translated to everyday life challenges. From my experience, learning an instrument or music, in general, can help tremendously to deal with day-to-day struggles or even mental state. It can help to deal with depression or ease some pain related to difficulties in their personal lives. Read More

I've been teaching since college, teaching percussion ensembles and private percussion lessons, before eventually branching out into teaching private lessons on all the instruments I know! Since my time as a teacher, I've worked with hundreds of students and have become proud of all the growth I've seen in them. Working with so many students has also been educational for me as a teacher, and I've begun to develop methods through that experience that I can bring to new students. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
