I teach my students to read music as well as to play by ear. I host 2 recitals each year. We learn one song start to finish and I hire a professional band to learn and perform the songs with my students at a local establishment or at my studio. I encourage all of my students to perform with our recital band. As far as books, I prefer to use the "new Breed", by Gary Chester, the ''Art of Bop Drumming'', by John Riley , and the ''encyclopedia of reading rhythms'', by Garry Hess, but there are many other books I recommend for specific needs. I’m a fun but focused instructor who has been teaching for over 10+ years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2014, I spent 3 years touring the world with a variety of famous rock and pop groups playing some of worlds most famous venues. It taught me the value in hard work and dedication to a craft as well as teaching me organization and time management skills that I apply to every facet of my musical jobs. Read More

Im a composer and musician, and I love learning and teaching how music works. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego in 2018 with a Bachelors in Music composition and have been making and teaching music ever since. I started guitar and drum lessons when I was ten years old, motivated by the joy of rocking out and expanded to classical instruction in highschool. I love to bring that rock-out spirit to my classical experiences and incorporate classical strategy and awareness to my popular musical expressions. Read More

I used a combination of my own methods and standardized books for drum set education. I break up the lessons in two or three sections depending on skill level. The fundamentals are key aspects to progress as a drummer. Using a combination of technique lessons and also practical musical application are key lessons to go over with any student. I like to make the lessons fun and the most important part is to play with music. Read More

I believe playing and teaching go hand in hand, seeing that the best teachers and educators are the ones that are actually out in the field making a living with that particular craft. I have had the opportunity to teach a lot of young children, teenagers and adult students over the years and it's still a privilege to be able to impact lives wherever possible and build student and teacher relationships. I have been teaching since I was 18 towards the end of High School. I taught lessons part time through college and since graduating college have maintained a steady roster of students. I focus on getting to know and understand each student and their goals to customize lesson plans for that individual, all while covering the essential and important fundamentals. I encourage students to give me a list of their favorite songs so we can learn them, play along to them and work towards possible recitals and/or situations where they can play the songs with other musicians!
