One of the greatest joys of teachingis to see that lightbulb go on when my students really start to pick things up and the excitement they getin seeing and hearing their own musical growth! I like to have my students set realistic goals for themselves which help to inspire them when they meet a goal with flying colors! Myteaching methods involve basic theory, sight reading, ear training, picking techniques, and many other aspects. Read More

I've been passionately involved in music for as long as I can remember. In 2015 I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a BS in Recording Arts and Music. My passion for the science behind recording and manipulating sound has driven me to experiment on the drum set, and while composing my own music. I am currently professionally performing with The Electro-Soul group Melody Lines who has amazing opportunities like opening for members of The Disco Biscuits, Pretty Lights, Lotus, String Cheese Incident, Particle, Phil Lesh Band, and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. This will vary given the student's abilities and particular intentions for study. In general, I focus on five distinct areas of learning: technique, theoretical understanding, reading, intuitive playing/learning by ear, and performance. I like to keep each lesson fluid and organized, by maintaining structure within segments of study. Within these segments we may venture into something unanticipated, so long as the student expresses interest, readiness, and the ability to learn. Read More

I teach students biased on my drum philosophy that encompass rudiments, groove, and 4 way coordination. From beginners to professionals we help drummers refine their technique, learn a variety of rudiments and how they apply those to fills and grooves, in addition to helping them to gain 4 way independence. After the student works their way through various a grooves, rudiments, and 4 way coordination exercises then they begin to learn how those skills translate into playing with an ensemble. Read More

My loveof music began at a young age through playing piano, percussion, and guitarand continued to grow throughout my years of schooling. I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in May of 2013 with my Bachelor of Music degree with a Concentration in Music Composition. I have since been spreading my knowledge of music throughoutmy local community through teaching, playing, and composition. I have released twomusic albums, one in 2011 andthe other in 2013,in which Iplayed percussion, drum set, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and sang while also recording, electronically programming, composing, and producing the albums myself.I have been building my studiofor over eight years and have acquired many pieces of equipment that help me teach, compose, play, and produce music. Piano and Drum class descriptions: PIANO - Our emphasis will be on playing well-known songs, using the page you're reading, your ear, and your memory. With less emphasis on notation (we'll read the treble clef most of the time, and the bass clef almost never), and more on music theory and playing by ear, you'll move along quickly and feel like a part of the band in months, not years! On the first lesson, I seek to establish long-term goals based on the interest and skill level of the player. One of the first questions I ask is, "what song do you want to learn the drum part to?" The most important thing about playing any instrument is to have fun, so I custom-tailor every lesson in order to see the most enjoyment on my students' faces as possible. While I have hundreds of pages of exercises I have written from which to pull, I will usually hold off even opening my book until I feel the student is ready to have fun with it. Read More
