For beginners, I try to keep thing informal and fun while teaching basics without putting any pressure to get into the technical stuff like hand technique and reading until they're ready. I have been playing drums for thirty years, and teaching drums to all ages of students for about twenty. I started playing drum set at the age of five, took regular private lessons from many teachers, took every music class available at school, and made District Honor Band seven years. I marched on my high school's snare line for four years and was Drum Captain for two. I marched snare drum for Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 2000, as well as for The University of Georgia's Redcoat Marching Band. Read More
