I try to understand the needs of my student; musical, technical, personal. We are all different, so we start from different points. There are no superior and inferior starting points, for we never know where the shortest paths lie. The following are the bare necessities: 1) Realistic Goals. Reaching those goals will give the student satisfaction and encouragement to proceed further. 2) Making Progress, no matter how small, every lesson. A journey is movement. Read More

I have put in a lot of dull studio time and years of practice and private lessons. I have taught hundreds of students over the years and I find that most new musicians just want to play for the fun of playing! That's my goal. Not everyone will be a rock star. The financial rewards are often limited, but the joy of music is priceless. I want to spread the joy of music to every student I teach. Read More

My approach is different for each student. A curriculum will be designed around the student's needs, skill level, music reading ability, musical interests, and age level. I am capable of teaching a student as much as they are willing to learn. We will not only learn a piece of music, but will dive into what makes the piece interesting to the student and the theory of music. Each student will have an active role in their musical education and as a result, students tend to be more motivated to learn and succeed. Read More

The skills I teach my students are tools that they can apply to anything they choose to do in life, and I show them that through hard work and dedication to their craft, they can achieve anything. I help my students learn by providing visual and audio examples, then demonstrating the real-world application of those examples. My students learn in a variety of ways, including muscle memory exercises, practicing playing at different tempos, and playing along with examples. Read More

I'm a classical guitarist from San Diego, and I love teaching the guitar as much as I love playing it. I have my Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from California State University Northridge where I studied with John Dearman, a founding member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. In school I was chosen by faculty to play with the CSUN Honorary Guitar Quartet. We were invited to perform at the regional symposium for the Guitar Foundation of America. Read More
