If I'd known how much I'd enjoy teaching, I would have started sooner! I've played in orchestras and garage bands, jazz combos, trad. instrumental bands and more, and I bring it all to the table. Also an MEd., experience as a K-12 classroom music teacher and years of teaching drums and percussion in a variety of settings. Plus my ongoing education in music. My students range in age from preschoolers to senior citizens. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I began teaching over the summer of 2010. While attending Berklee, I had countless one-on-one and small group sessions with fellow drummers where we would bounce ideas off one another and give each other "mini lessons," breaking down specific grooves and licks. In October, 2014, I led an hour-long master class for other Berklee percussion students about advanced polyrhythmic concepts and applications. In addition to teaching out of my rehearsal space in Allston, MA, I also make lesson videos that I share online. Read More

This is where the student learns how to express him/herself as an individual musician, but in an appropriate and tasteful fashion. These steps are not really to be completed per say, but my guarantee is that if a student follows these steps, takes at least weekly lessons with me and follows my instructions as closely as possible, I will have them playing confidently with other musicians within a month. Instruments: Piano Guitar Drums Bass Guitar French Horn
I began teaching as soon as I could. My dad held piano lessons out of our house and inspired me to teach guitar (the only instrument my dad wasn't terribly good at). I also taught trumpet, French horn and piano throughout high school. When I got to college, no one at Berklee really needed lessons in instruments anymore, however, I spent a lot of time tutoring kids in Music Theory, Arranging and other more technical aspects of music. Instruments: Drums
I'm a passionate and motivated instructor and I love working with students and getting them to reach their maximum potential. Growing up, I was influenced by gospel music and played in church at a young age. Later on I gained a lot of marching band experience and training in music theory in the Frederick county Advanced Music Studies program. I have experience playing with many bands around the D.C metro area and have played in a range of small and large venues. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Nothing is more rewarding than passing the knowledge of music to my students. It truly is an invaluable gift to have the experience and feeling that playing music gives to a person. The student will carry this with them the rest of life and that truly inspires me to push my students to find their own voice on their instrument. Music is a deeply personal experience and to be able to push my students in a direction to focus their creativity on the drum set is my true goal in teaching and I hope to share it with you!
