I'm a passionate performer and instructor. Recently moved to Brooklyn from Montreal, where I completed my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Jazz Performance. I have performed throughtout NY, Boston, Montreal, Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick. In Montreal I had the opportunity to study and attend master classes with some of today's greatest jazz musicians. It helps get them engaged immediately and want to play. It's good to take the first couple of lessons to gauge my students pace and see how they progress. Since then Ive taught at Westminster Choir College, Rutgers University, NJ State and County Teen Arts Programs as well as private and group lessons in my own studio. My casual approach allows students the relaxation and freedom necessary to learn at their own pace. With a strong focus on fundamentals and using those fundamentals as building blocks, my goal is to help students become musical and creative and find their own unique voice on their instrument. For beginners I usually begin with Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone and Fundamental Studies for Snare Drum by Garwood Whaley. Once the student has a good grasp on basic reading and technique, I usually introduce rudiments and start working on solo or play along repertoire.
