For beginning drum set students, the program I recommend is starting with Drum Set Essentials by Peter Erskine. As skills in rudiments and basic patterns develop, I go on to materials such as Syncopation by Ted Reed (reading, coordination, technique), and Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone (technique). For piano, I go over basic theory, major and minor scales, chords and arpeggios and work in Piano For Adults by James Bastien. Read More

I began my musical training at age 8, began playing professionally as a teenager, and have been teaching for 15 years. I graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Music Education, with a minor in Percussion Performance. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to perform several nights a week around Austin, and to have toured the US multiple times during the past two years. In addition to teaching and performing, I have also written many works for concert band, percussion soloist, chamber groups, jazz ensemble, and percussion ensemble. Read More

I am a passionate and professional drummer based in Austin, TX. I have performed professionally for 10 years and have experience in both the studio and touring across the USA. I truly love my job and am looking to expand my career into the teaching role. I have a deep knowledge and understanding of both drumming and music as a whole, as I am a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter as well. I graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor's in business, while taking a variety of music performance classes. Read More

I was born in August 1984 in New Halkidona-Athens, Greece. At the age of 7, I started my musical education by taking piano lessons. I did not finish my piano studies but the fire of music was burning strong inside me, and at the age of 15 i decided to study drums. Since 2005, i have been a professional drummer and collaborated with several notable musicians and singers such as Kostas Chronopoulos, Vox, Giannis Markopoulos, Manos Ksidous, No Balance, Teresa Panagiotopoulos, Nikos Georgousakis/M51, KARMA, and The Secret. I don't want to be too easy and I don't want to be too hard. We all have life events that keep us from practicing 16 hours a day. Also, you don't want to practice 15 minutes a week either. A good balance between work and play is needed. However, the student will be rewarded for challenging themself- both internally via self esteem and a sense of accomplishment, and externally with praise from me and friends and family. Read More

To be successful at an instrument, it's important for a student to have something that drives their motivation. Playing an instrument is fun, but is also a lot of work and takes practice, perseverance, and patience. I strive to make lessons fun and to help the student find what encourages them to persevere. Music is a language: you must learn to speak, listen to, read and write a language to be fluent. Read More
