I use many ideas from various sources to combine with my instruction methods; All with a gradient level in mind rising to a higher plateau of musical knowledge and understanding. I combine theory with practical applications of each concept being taught. Music theory, practical exercises, along with ear training appropriate to the level or needs of a student. I give students songs to learn that emphasizes concepts being taught. They have an option to select their own songs, if it's not outside their level of playing. Read More

I am an instructor and performer who specializes in teaching drum set methods, rudiment training and independent mobility exercises based off of Hal Leonard's "Drum Set Methods" book. Not only do I teach the fundamentals but I cater to what each particular student wants out of a lesson. If a student wants to learn how to play a rock beat or a particular song, we will learn the necessary skills to get to the point to where they leave their lesson confident and capable of their abilities! I have 5 years teaching experience with private drum lessons. Most of my students have been younger and really craved the fundamentals of drumming I have the most experience teaching, which has honed my skills as a teacher to provide the foundation for more intermediate and advanced learning. What I believe makes me a comprehensive teacher is the fact that I myself have never stopped learning new things. No matter what level you are, advancing your skills and that moment of realization that you have while performing certain skills on the drum set you never thought you would get down is an indescribable feeling and I love nothing more than seeing other student drummers go through the same emotions. I have learned quite a bit from my teaching experience, but there are two things that consistently hold significant importance to me. The first is that every student is unique - no two students, no matter how similar their interests, should necessarily have the same curriculum or be taught the same way. The second is that every student should be constantly feeding their passion(s) - not every step of learning and improving always feels fun at the time, but if the student has a chance to be passionate about what they are doing, even the most difficult work will feel purposeful and rewarding. Instruments: Drums
I began teaching lessons after college in my home town of Boothbay Maine, working with young players in order to get a grasp for the teaching world. Over the past five years I have been teaching lessons off and on to various experience levels and learning styles which I believe makes me ready for anything. Seeing my students improve has been the most rewarding experince of my life. I take great pride in my ability to adapt to various students. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard Djembe
For every instrument I teach, I always focus on tone primarily. To have whatever instrument the student is learning, be it drumset, piano, or voice, it is of utmost importance to me to have them re-sounding the whole body of the instrument with confidence, and with passion. When we start from this place, I then work on rudiments/scales, and aim to endow students with basic vocabulary, so that they may become fluent on their instruments. Read More
Instruments: Drums Bass Guitar Ukulele Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar
For most of my beginner students, I start with Alfred's Basic Method Book series (The only exception is Ukulele; I use the Hal Leonard's Ukulele Method Book). Beyond that, I work with each student to decide on songs and techniques that they would like to learn. I also make time in each lesson to introduce students to new music that showcases their instrument. As students progress, students will bring in their own examples for us to discuss together.
