I started teaching private lessons in high school, for free, to other students in the percussion section of both the concert and marching bands. Shortly after starting as a music major at Asbury Univeristy I continued to teach lessons. During my collegiate years I also was involved in taking private lessons and playing for all available percussion-needed ensembles (concert band, jazz band, orchestra, etc.). Consistenly since leaving high school I have also played in both rock bands and wedding bands and I consider these to be extremely helpful in my teaching experience. Read More

My teaching studio is equipped with two drums sets and practice pads to accommodate marching or drum set students. I also have a full PA and two keyboards set up for piano students and accompanying purposes. Each student is given an assignment for the week (or specified time) and will then pass off this lesson assignment (barrier) before receiving a new lesson. Passing off not only includes demonstration of the lesson but also performing with me as I accompany them on the keyboards. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated individual who loves working with people and sharing my love of music and life. In 2011, I graduated from Alabama AM University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications. Performing around the U.S. has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician. I've had the opportunity to play behind a few main stream artists, as well as touring with celebrities from the cast of the popular show Wild 'N Out. Read More

Life is bigger than just music. I enjoy my students not only learning what I teach them but enjoying themselves as they are learning. My job as a music teacher is not only to teach them but to also inspire them entertain them and motivate them. Music isnt just a craft but a form of art that can be therapeutic and enjoyable. and I want to see my students to be able to have the access to the spirit of music so that they may thrive and not see what theyre doing as work but as something that they love. My teaching approach begins by meeting the students where they are in regards to musical capability. We soon push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of and allows them to apply the music theory in real time. A consistent schedule, whether it be during our schedule lesson or a follow up email packet, is the distinctive difference in my lesson plans. This practice regimen should continue long after our scheduled lessons and should be one of many vital keys to your child's future successes. Read More

I began teaching my freshman year of high school and have continued for the past 4 years. Over those years I have taught several students of varying age and skill levels. One thing I try to emphasize with all my students is being able to play musically. Having a good ear and being able to not only recognize what the other musicians around you are doing, but also decide what the current music is calling for from yourself. Read More

The most important thing when learning a new instrument is having fun! That is the goal in all of my lessons. This is why after a review of what we learned in the previous lesson, I always introduce something new! Every week you will have something new to practice, whether it is based on the previous week's material or a completely new concept. It is important to practice everything you learn in order to develop muscle memory. Read More
