I am passionate about music and passionate about teaching music, especially the drums!  I recently received my Masters Degree from Manhattanville College and I hold a B.A music degree from Purchase College.  I have performed from Canada to the West Indies and all over the US and of course I can be seen regularly here in NYC. I teach many styles of playing such as Rock, Metal, Jazz, Latin, and Funk. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced drummer, I have much valuable knowledge to share. Many of my students concentrate on School Band/NYSSMA, while others are solely interested in playing the drum set and forming a band. I have been teaching private lessons since 2006 and love doing so. I volunteered at my arts high school for 2 years helping with all of the Jazz Band, AP Music Theory, and private instruction in multiple instruments. In 2009 I graduated from Cooperative Arts & Humanities Magnet High School focusing in Music. My approach to teaching is to try and understand each students level of musicianship and evaluate their weaknesses and strengths. I believe that repetition and the reduction of speed are essential for learning, mastering and remembering technique and the nuances of music. I encourage each student to explore the style or genre of music that is most appealing to them. I grew up in Santa Cruz, California, and began playing piano at age 9 with the help of my older sister who also played piano. During my high school years, I focused on composition, which became my main area of study during college. Through my college training at the University of California in Santa Cruz and San Jose State University I supported myself by giving piano lessons, playing organ and piano for churches, and working as a freelance pianist.
