I am a graduate student at SUNY Purchase, and will be receiving my Master's degree in Music Performance this spring. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from SUNY Fredonia in 2016. Throughout my studies, I have been fortunate enough to perform with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and learn from renowned flutists -- including Gary Schocker, Ian Clarke, and Tara O'Connor (my current teacher). Taught all ages at eastman community school when studying at Eastman and was a Studio teaching assistant for Steven Doanes studio and taught first years undergrad students in group technique classes and one on one repertoire lessons. I have been teaching for 10 years, both privately and in schools. I have taught voice, piano, acting, general music education and directed choirs. I emphasize a performance based approach to music. I believe that communication is the essence and purpose of music, and good technique cannot be divorced from performance. I earned my Bachelors of Music from the University of Akron and earned experience there as a Violin Teaching Assistant and Theory and History Tutor, and am currently working towards my Masters in Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford.
