I strongly believe that everyone is very different.  Learning styles and musical goals are very much a part of this.  Some find reading from a book helps them, so for most students I begin by recommending "A Modern Method For Guitar" from the Berklee Press, however for others a book is not as helpful as listening to some music and watching someone play.  I like to introduce as much theory as is desired from the student because theory is a very important part of the musical process, but if the student prefers to get playing first and understand the “why” later then we can work something out in that regard.  Depending on musical interest, we can work with different genre's and pieces to promote specific techniques and practice routines. Hello, my name is Patrick. I am a professional drummer, percussionist and educator in the Boston Metro area. I received a B.A. in History from Loyola University in New Orleans (class of '08). While in New Orleans I studied under the Louisiana Philharmonic's premier timpanist, Jim Atwood. I also studied with New Orleans drumming legends Johnny Vidacovich, Wayne Moreau, and Stanton Moore. Here in Boston I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music. Read More

I am an easy going person and I like to teach with a laid back style. I understand that not all students learn the at the same pace which is why I bring an individual approach to all of my students. I like to bring in different ideas and listen to different examples of rhythms and genres and really break down how each one works so that I may be able to find another way to make a groove not only fit into and example, but feel like it was made for that moment. Generally layed back low pressure lessons, but I will push a student if they let me. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

Music has been my passion since grade school. I began teaching in the fall of 2006 and have engaged with students of all ages. I welcome the wide eyed enthusiastic child who can't wait to learn and perform, as well as the reluctant, but determined adult who just wants to play for fun or take on a new challenge. After attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston for 2 years, I joined Merrimack Valley's favorite local band the B. Read More

Instruments: Drums

I began teaching over the summer of 2010. While attending Berklee, I had countless one-on-one and small group sessions with fellow drummers where we would bounce ideas off one another and give each other "mini lessons," breaking down specific grooves and licks. In October, 2014, I led an hour-long master class for other Berklee percussion students about advanced polyrhythmic concepts and applications. In addition to teaching out of my rehearsal space in Allston, MA, I also make lesson videos that I share online. Read More
