For very young guitar students I use Dick Bennett's books 1,2, 3 to start and then as the students progress we will continue to Mel Bay books 1, and 2 then proceed to chord books and charts, some knowledge that i will personally pass on such as finger exercise's and scales, use of the I pad and some guitar apps as well. After learning the guitar and piano, I went on to several other instruments learning the theory and dedication needed to excel. My methods of teaching are universal for both young, old, new, beginner, or advanced. I take a very strong stance on rudimentary preparedness and understanding as well as the importance of maintaining physical composure while playing drums. The drums are obviously a physical instrument so exerting force in the correct and relaxed emotion while maintaining maximum results is a consistent. Previously mentioned, depending on the individual student, my methods and concepts will change. In teaching i have found there is NOT a "perfect way to teach" or "right way". People are different and everyone learns differently and at different paces, so the style of teaching has to change from student to student. However, the biggest principal i have seen in teaching lessons, is if the teacher believes in the student, and the student knows it, results will sky rocket and the student will do anything for that teacher.
