I believe that music should be approached holistically and with an open mind rather than trying to force one method to work for everyone, so I strive to tailor my methods according to the needs of each of my students. No matter the age of the student, I work to find music to which the student can connect both musically and psychologically, which is important in keeping the student engaged and motivated. I don't use a particular teaching methodology or repertoire series, but instead pull from a variety of pedagogical techniques and song anthologies, tailoring each lesson to the student, where they are in their vocal development and on that particular day. The Advanced Student is not required to perform all the material for the next lesson, as long as he or she can demonstrate that the idea behind that particular subject matter is understood the lessons will move forward. My lessons are designed to transfer info to the advanced student so that he or she can design own studies after finishing studying with me.
