I'm relatively new to the teaching life, but I love it regardless. I started in September of 2018 with one student who I taught throughout the semester, and seeing him grow throughout the months was satisfying unlike anything else I've experienced. I taught one student a semester due to my school commitments but still managed to teach them a lot and open their eyes to the world of music. I believe that teaching and passing down knowledge is how society gets better, including music. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school days. I taught private lessons to students at the middle school I attended so they would be prepared for what they'd have to do once they got to our level. As a senior in high school I aided the drumline at another local high school that had just opened. At the present time I am teaching musicians of all ages, ranging from the age of 6 to elderly adult. Before graduating from college, my passion for and knowledge of percussion created an opportunity for me to work for the North Forest Community All-Star Band Drumline and the North Forest High School Drumline. I have been teaching for 25+ years in schools and privately. The crucial part of my teaching method is an individual approach. It takes a lot of patience and experience to unlock one's individuality in learning and performing. I do use books at the same time I try to develop student's ears. Read More

It's so amazing to see my students develop an appreciation for music at all levels! I teach by experience and what has been the sensible to me in learning music. I simply get right to the major points that develop the musician in my students all while concentrating on technique which is so important! I always like to be open to what the student's goal is when studying to play the drums because I want to meet their needs. Read More

Fun and engaging! Andy tried to find the musical interests of each student to keep them practicing and wanting to learn more. Andy uses method books, but also sheet music of the student's favorite songs to balance technique with enjoyment. Andy is well versed in all styles of music in addition to theory, ear training and improvisation, giving his students a well rounded experience with music. Read More

Before teaching I was always sharing ideas and my approach with my peers and anyone who wanted to listen. My jump into teaching music as a job started after high school teaching drum lessons at Music & Arts and All About Music & Arts in the Houston area. After teaching at Marching Percussion camps for Memorial High School and Waltrip High School among others I decided to go back to college at Blinn in Brenham. Read More
