I have been teaching music for nearly 20 years. I am the after school music teacher for the Norwood School District. My primary goal is to make sure students are having fun and enjoying themselves during lessons. I have a laid-back disposition. During the first lesson Ill ask students what they would like to learn about. Then my goal is to facilitate how to reach that goal. Id like to have lessons be relaxed and students can work at their own pace. Read More

I am a motivated instructor and clinician who loves sharing musical experiences with my students. I started playing percussion at the age of four and began formal training by the age of seven. Throughout middle school and high school, I branched out musically and played low brass, guitar, and bass guitar to become a more well-rounded musician. In order to diversify my musical palette, I attended three universities between 2007-2012 for music education, composition, and performance. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, I also ask the students what do you want to achieve today in this lesson, or this week. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

My teaching experience began in 2011. A friend of mine had bought a guitar and did not know a single thing about the instrument. he asked me if I could teach him how to play. After a few weeks of methods that I taught him and, exercises he was able to play the guitar without frustration. I always tell my students when they are starting out to give themselves at least 15 minutes a day to keep up on exercises to build up muscle memory. Read More

The primary responsibility of a music teacher is to cultivate music literacy; an understanding of music from both a fundamental and holistic standpoint. Fundamentals would include: technique, sight-reading, rhythms, scales, arpeggios, rudiments, chords, etc. Holistic concepts would include: music history, music theory, ear training, ethnomusicology, etc. My ultimate goal for all of my students is to help them become independent and enthusiastic musicians. I want them to be able to continue to learn and grow as musicians when their time under my instruction is over. Read More

I've even continued my percussion studies while in Cincinnati, studying with James Culley of the world-famous Percussion Group Cincinnati. Education has been very important to me - not just my own, but that of others as well. I've been involved with teaching for over 10 years, from my early days of being a section leader in high school to private percussion teaching throughout my undergraduate years, and I intend to keep teaching for the rest of my life. I am a passionate instructor who loves to watch students grow and develop. I am very involved and actively participate in each lesson, working with each student in order to learn together. I encourage students through positive reinforcement and attempt to instill a joy and love for music. By getting to know my students, I tailor lessons to their skill level and give each student control over how we learn and what we learn. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
