I have been studying drums for well over 17 years! I love playing, learning, and teaching drums. It's all I ever think about. I began studying Jazz drumming throughout high school, and have performed, toured, and recorded with many bands since. I have become locally acclaimed with my affiliation for local Utah music festivals such as Desert Rocks Music Festival, Powellpalooza, Uncle Uncanny's Summer Sessions, and Psych Lake City. My teaching experience started when I became a choir Director in my church in 2000,I love to teach different harmonies for different vocal ranges plus I will teach them with the solfa notations which is the music notes.i remember some of the choristers where tone deaf but I always love to take it slow and steady with them eventually they all got better and I was fulfilled.its always fun and conducive in my classes because I always make it look easy and not stressful.i always tell my students that the only way you can be better is daily practice and dedication. I find that it is important to work on making a sound from the instrument as soon as possible, thats why often times the first drumset lesson will include learning a beat on the drumset. I teach music the same way language is learned, as both involve learning to listen, speak, write, and read. I start students off with the skill of listening as I demonstrate how the instrument is played, and then move them into "speaking" by guiding them in the basics of technique that will allow them to begin producing basic sounds.
