It is very easy today to record lessons and send students home with different songs to play along to. Drums are much more fun when you play with other musicians and one way to do that is with recordings. Again there is room for me to bring music to the student, but also room for the student to bring something to me that they want to learn. Also a great opportunity to show the similarities between and differences between these two events. Read More

For piano students, I prefer Alfred's methods, whether the adult or for beginners. For band and orchestra, I use Essential Elements (or whatever their school is using), and supplement with Rubank's methods. For voice, I concentrate on whatever the student is interested in, with a foundation of good technique and understanding of the voice range and how to control it, with some solfege and sight-singing mixed in. Whatever the instrument, I follow and listen to the student to understand what they need, and change my curriculum to suit them. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to France (2008) when I started teaching music theory to children between the ages of 8-14. I had a class of about 10 or 15 kids and we worked on solfege, theory, and singing. During that time I was also teaching drums in the same school and privately in my house in Normandy, France. I emphasized two keys points of success to my students: always come to your lessons and always put in the time to do your practicing. Read More

I come to teaching with the understanding that every student is different. We will try to get at each problem in a variety of ways, and see what works for you. We will also gear our curriculum towards the student's own interests, keeping in mind that there is plenty of material that is common to everyone's growth. Since lesson time is limited, I won't waste time telling stories or lecturing you about different musical concepts. Read More

My lessons are relaxed, and very informative. I want students to look forward to lessons every week! I want to know what inspires each student and cultivate their strengths and allow them to progress at a pace that is comfortable for them. I approach my lessons with a positive attitude, and I like to approach each student with an open mind, and to create an environment that lets them know it's OK to make mistakes and to struggle. I tailor each lesson to the student. I don't like to follow a 'one size fits all approach'. Every student is different and I don't think it benefits my students to use a cookie cutter approach to every student. Additionally, each students have different goals. I focus my lessons on their students achieving their INDIVIDUAL goals as opposed to a standard curriculum. Read More

As far as my methods for teaching I want to learn a little bit about your background in music, what your influences are, what you would like to get out of this, and what you see yourself doing with these lessons in our first meeting(s). From there I will compose a lesson plan on what I think will best suit you to learn everything you need to know. My plan for you will consist of a background on music theory, a learning of rudiments that every drummer should know, as well as ear training. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
