I believe that drum has to start with the basics, I used to practice at least one hour a day every day for over 10 years. I still practice on a regular basis with my pads and on my drums. So many drummers you see today are not schooled and its a shame. if you start with a good solid foundation you can be the best there is. I always strived to be the best drummer that I can be.Learning can be fun if taught the right way. Read More

Prior to making the transition to a full time musician, I was a swim and surf instructor for children and adults! This experience greatly prepared me for teaching music. I learned a lot about patience, communication, and having fun which is what I've been incorporating into my 3 years of teaching drums and percussion. I also have experience with different age groups, cultural backgrounds, and children with disabilities. I've taught children age 5 up to 17, I have basic conversational French and Spanish speaking skills, and I have experience with children with Autism, Aspergers, Down Syndrome and ADHD. Read More

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1962 and I have been passionate about music, especially drumming since I was a toddler. My mother used to take me along to her aerobics classes and at that time a drummer would play a drum to keep a beat for the class instead of having recorded music playing through the speakers. I was absolutely fascinated by his drum beats and I was always trying to play along with the drummer during the class. Read More

I have a genuine passion for music, and love to share that with other people. My approach to teaching is to always to share in the enthusiasm for student's individuality of expression. I like to help students set their educational goals based off what their goals are as an artist. With clear and measurable progress, students will gain momentum and confidence to write or perform. Listening to what kinds of musical elements excite and inspire the student also guides my approach in helping them acheive those specific tools to express themselves. Read More

I wholeheartedly love the act of writing and performing music. It is what brings me peace and it is what has lead me to the most beautiful places and experiences in my life. Sharing the knowledge that I have acquired as an artist is the ultimate way I can pay respects to the gift I've been blessed with and would love to inspire others to pursue or just enjoy for themselves! I love working hard with students who are extremely motivated, who practice a lot, and who want to move onto more advanced concepts and exercises each week, however I also love working with students who don't have a whole lot of time to practice and who simply want to use playing music as a way to wind down on the weekends. Regardless of your goals, it's my aim to be clear about what it looks like to get there and to ensure that you're having fun watching yourself grow. Read More

From Newbreed to Chapin to Afro-Cuban Rhythm for drum set, there are many methods that are worth exploring. That being said, sometimes learning songs (covers) can be the best way to learn quickly and it can be a lot of fun. Something I've done many times too is writing precise exercises for students in order to address and target specific needs. Let's say a student has difficulty with his ghost notes on his/her left hand, I can easily come up with fun exercises in order to speed up the progress and get improvements for that student.
