Seeing my students excited about music drives my passion for teaching! As I structure my curriculum for each student, I like to incorporate things like active listening and history into lessons so that it's never just going through the motions and doing monotonous exercises. Often introducing an artist or moment that was crucial in music history sparks creativity and motivation in students when they might not have been introduced to it earlier. Read More

I have taught the drums in a variety of settings for 15 years. In Australia I worked for the South Australian Government in the Instrumental Music Service for 3 years. I provided group drum lessons to students ranging from elementary to senior high school age with a total of 40 lessons each week, at 10 different schools to over 100 students! While in this role, I also coordinated ensembles and concert bands and also established a music program at a juvenile detention centre. Read More

I really enjoy helping drummers along the road to reaching their musical goals. I strive to get students motivated and inspired to overcome any challenges that learning the instrument might bring about. As someone who struggled early on in the learning process with playing drums, I fully understand that each student progresses at a different rate, and all lessons are tailored to the individual's learning process and the rate at which they are able to learn new material. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More

I have been teaching privately since 2006. I specialize in jazz drum set, but I can teach all sorts of styles of music as well. In addition to drum set, I teach rudimental, marching and classical snare drum, classical percussion (mallets, timpani), afro-cuban percussion (congas, bongos, timbales), sight reading, music theory, and beginning piano. I also have experience teaching high school drumlines, as well as jazz and rock bands for middle school and high school students. Read More

It was not until I was 13 years old that I had my first drumset but during all those years until then I collected and constantly played many brazilian percussion instruments, which acctually gave me a very stong foundation in drumming and also in the Brazilian popular rhythms. Very soon after, I started my professional drumming career playing for musical theater productions which led me to many other projects and soon I was showcasing as a drummer in National tours, Radio and TV programs in Brazil. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
