I am motivated to teach students all aspects of music. Each lesson focuses on scales and exercises, performance pieces, and musical creation. I graduated from St. Mary's college in 2006 with a BA of performing arts. I am currently playing with the Walnut Creek Concert Band and The Community Womens Orchestra. I have had the opportunity to play with Awesome Orchestra, Dirty Cello, a Prince cover band and many other jazz and classical groups. Read More

I'm a San Francisco-based clarinetist, composer, and writer seeking to share my passion and training with students of all backgrounds, ability levels, and musical goals. I have learned from some of the finest players on the planet-- members of the San Francisco, Houston, Jacksonville, and Seattle Symphonies, as well as the New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras. I have a decade of experience encompassing every role available to a classical musician, as an orchestral musician, chamber player, and soloist of both classic and contemporary repertoire. Read More

My teaching method varies from student to student. I strive to find the best possible approach for teaching each individual. I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I create my own custom lesson plans and materials as needed. I also welcome students to bring in and learn music they have heard somewhere else that inspires them. Read More

I like to focus on the practical application and aural aspects of instrumental learning as well as the technical skills. I invest heavily in listening and understanding as opposed to the largely 'by rote' style I was subjected to growing up! Whilst I will follow a student/parents desired path regarding exams, I will provide a rounded musical learning and experience that will enable students to excel in all endeavours and be creative, as well as pass exams. For me the most important thing is to keep the students motivated. If that is not the case they won't do their part when they go home to practice. Sometimes I explain the theory and practical use of some exercises that in the beginning look tedious or exhausting so that the students can have a bigger idea of how the structure of music is created. Clarinet and saxophone are melodic instruments. Read More

When it comes to my teaching style, it is important for the student to learn at their own pace. I will set goals for my students based off of how he or she learns so that they can progress in a way that is comfortable for them. I will never push the student to where he or she is uncomfortable and become discouraged and lose interest. I also encourage the students to ask any questions that they have and that should never feel embarrassed about their questions. Read More
