I have taught instrumental music in public schools for 5 years which has included teaching grades 5-12 in subjects such as beginning band, beginning orchestra, intermediate band, intermediate orchestra, marching band, percussion ensembles, and small group/individual instruction. I have studied several approaches to teaching including Orff, Montessori, and Suzuki. I love to seek out new ways to effectively instruct my students. In music learning, I believe that listening is of utmost importance. One must internalize and interact with the music they hear so that they may develop a concept for what they would like to play. I have also taught private lessons on various instruments and in voice since 2008. I have had my students make All-State Honor Band/All-State Choir, I have had students get college scholarships and many have been accepted into colleges as music majors, I have had students nominated for the All-American Army Marching Band, and have even had students perform solo recitals in public venues.
