Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder Music Keyboard
Over the course of many years, I've developed a method for beginning piano and woodwind students which yields excellent results. For the first series of lessons, I want the student to become comfortable in understanding the keyboard or the wind instrument, avoiding the secondary interface of sight reading. There are about twenty short, simple, basic songs I have the student master. At this point, not only are we working on understand the harmonic and melodic "hardware" of the keyboard or horn, but we are developing proper technique in terms of hand position, posture and sound as well as a natural rhythmic feel. I have been teaching music lessons, both on a freelance basis and at the Laconia Music Center, since graduating college in the Spring of 2009. I have also been playing woodwind instruments in a professional capacity since that time. My work as a performer informs my work as an educator and vice-versa. I am afforded the great luxury of musical dynamism by living in New York City, and I am as comfortable in a jazz club as I am reading classical music, or in the horn section of a funk band. Read More

I’ve had many wonderful mentors in my musical journey over the years, and I would love nothing more than to replicate the experiences that I’ve had for others! As a freelance musician, I believe that musical variety is key to learning and enjoying any instrument. Additionally, I believe that fostering a desire to improve is paramount- the dedication to practice is something no one should take lightly, and being able to find joy and motivation while playing is the key to a lifelong love of music. I'm a certified music instructor whose favorite part of teaching is getting to meet new people and bond over music. I graduated from Messiah College with Bachelor's degree in Music education and have taught as a certified music teacher for a year now. I have been playing clarinet since grade school, saxophone since high school, and picked up piano in college. I have also performed in many ensembles, such as the Messiah College Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. Read More

I have also become an avid arranger, making arrangements of Broadway and Show Music for a classical ensemble. I love being able to cross the different styles of clarinet, and would love to teach students that have a desire to be a proficient player in any of those styles. When beginning lessons, we have a conversation about what the students' goals are, whether it be classical or other styles, and what they hope to accomplish (entering competitions, auditioning for programs, putting on recitals, etc.). I have been teaching clarinet and saxophone lessons for over 25 years, and continue to really enjoy helping students reach their full potential.
