My teaching experience dates back to my high school years, 8 years ago, when I was a section leader for my marching band and I got to teach marching routines and lead sectionals for my section. Later, at my undergraduate degree, I got hired at three different middle and high schools to teach private lessons and give master classes. As important as it is for me to help improve students technical ability and tone, I believe it is equally important for me to find ways to nurture students' creativity and passion for music. I believe it is very important for students to listen to a wide range of music, especially the type of music they are studying, in order to develop their awareness of style and nuance. My teaching style revolves around the student and their needs. I encourage all my students to take charge of their lessons by asking them to develop questions throughout the week, prioritize what music we focus on, and tune into their own weaknesses and strengths. While I will guide them along the way, I want my students to gain the confidence to make decisions for themselves. Recently returned from Japan, I served as Co-Principal Clarinetist of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra since 2011. With 3 nationwide tours, I performed all over Japan, appearing regularly on the nationally televised program "Daimei no Nai Ongakukai" televised nationally. In 2010 I earned my Master of Music degree at the University of Southern California, studying with master teacher Yehuda Gilad.
