The true role of a teacher is to open the door for a student to discover things on their own. Because every student has different ways of learning different things, a teacher must be able to guide a student through the process and find what works the best for them. Also, I am more interested in engaging a student in the spirit and emotion of music, rather than just the technical aspect of playing an instrument. Read More

For younger beginning students, I typically use a method book, such as Accent on Achievement or something similar. For older beginners, I typically use the Rubank beginner's book. With this book, the student learns the fundamentals for their instrument. Once the student demonstrates an understanding of this, we will move on to sheet music. For more advanced students, we will typically use an etude book like Klose to explore the technical aspects of musical performance (such as technique development, phrasing, dynamics, etc.). Read More

In 2006, my love for music began at Temecula Middle School, which is where I played clarinet for three years and performed in Disneyland and Las Vegas. In 2013, I graduated from Temecula Valley High School and I completed four years of marching band there. I was clarinet section leader for one year and also played with the Bravura Youth Symphony Orchestra outside of school for three years. I became clarinet section leader and board member for that group as well. Read More

I am a performer, composer, and educator who loves inspiring and cultivating a passion for music in my students. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Cal State Fullerton in 2017, and moved out to CT to pursue my Master's degree at the Hartt School and study with Carrie Koffman. I love performing in competitions, as a solo performer, and in chamber ensembles. I've also had opportunities to perform around the country and the world including California, China, and New York. A great deal of music around the world is based off of the notion of a particular set of spirits or a set of emotions that human beings experience. This is a highly anthropomorphized approach to composition, which has been important in the establishment of human beings in the world today. I feel as though the world is saturated with compositions in this style and there is technology available today that allows performers and composers to engage in their environment in a more direct way involving statistics, information, and original sound synthesis from the occurrence of natural phenomenon. For most students of younger age, the problem is to keep being interested in music. This is because music has been taught in the method of reading from sheet. Being able to read music is important, but what's more important is being able to hear music correctly. During the past few years, I found students often being interested in listening to music more than reading a written chart. I teach students not only how to read music, but also hearing it, playing along with it, because after really trying to hear music, my students do have a better interest in music. Read More
