I am a performer, composer, and educator who loves inspiring and cultivating a passion for music in my students. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Cal State Fullerton in 2017, and moved out to CT to pursue my Master's degree at the Hartt School and study with Carrie Koffman. I love performing in competitions, as a solo performer, and in chamber ensembles. I've also had opportunities to perform around the country and the world including California, China, and New York. Ever since I was a kid, I had a passion for mentoring and tutoring. Nothing makes me feel as fulfilled as a long day of teaching, having fun with my students and helping them make progress both in their musical studies and development as people. As a performer, my career encompasses anything from classical and jazz concerts to musical theater productions and studio recording sessions. I am constantly looking for new ways to contribute to my craft and find new outlets for performing. Read More

Functional Piano: This is a GREAT method of learning to play the piano without having to take years of formal piano lessons. If you just want to play your favorite melodies and harmonies then " functional piano." is for you. This is an EXCELLENT approach for eitherAdults/ Laymen/novie vocalist/songwrithers/instrumentalist who either want to explore and or create new harmonies and melodies. Topics include 1) Basic chord identification by sound. 2) Understanding chord symbols. 3) How to intrepret a lead sheet. 4) Basic diatonic concepts. 5) Modification of a chord progression. 6) Exchanging chords of similar functions. 7) Voice leading techniques. I use the Rubank method of books as a traditonal conservatory approach to early progression. I find their systematic flow efficient and effective to consistent improvement. We would then move to fulfilling repertoire that would qualify the student for collegiate study and competitive performance. For those interested in jazz, pop, and rock, we would proceed to study several instruction books and recorded material that over the years I have found to successfully progress a student in those genres. I have been a working music teacher and professional musician since 2003. My work has taken me all over the world, from exotic, global itineraries on board 5-star cruise ships, to the some of the top music venues in New York City, as well as the homes and classrooms of many satisfied students. I graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music, with a B.M. in Jazz Performance (saxophone). I also hold a Certificate of Eligibility in K-12 Music from the New Jersey Department of Education, as well as a Substitute Teaching Certificate (specializing in music) for Sussex County school districts in New Jersey. By letting students practice how to improvise, students will learn not only the instrument itself, but also start to build a concept of ear-training, as well as music theory. To me, the music comes first than the music theory, which is why music theory always serves people's ear. I would have students learn how to play and hear chords, create a musical vocabulary and enjoy themselves. After letting them hear music, I will explain why they are hearing what they are hearing instead of letting them read it from a chart and not explaining why. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
