A typical lesson includes fundamentals (scales, articulation, embouchure), etudes, sight reading, solo repertoire, and duets....plus anything the student is working on in their current performing ensemble(s). I am a professional saxophonist/flutist in central Florida who gigs over 200+ dates a year. I freelance with original bands, wedding and corporate groups. I play in jazz, funk, RB, reggae, soul, rock, songwriter, classical and world music styles. I received my A.A. in Music Performance at Valencia College in Orlando (2012) before becoming the music tutor there for one school year from 2012-2013. Students are encouraged to participate in their community and school music performance activities, enter competitions and do music examinations. I am an organized teacher and lessons are structured to accommodate technique development and fun solo work. Each month we will set a goal, and build a weekly plan to get you to accomplish that goal. I ask students to keep a journal of their goals and practice time focus so we can measure how we're working to our goal. We will always do warm up exercises, scale of the week to improve sight-reading, finger twisters to improve technical ability, and solo work of your choosing to put all that practice into action!
