My teaching experience has covered various situations, styles, and instruments. During my undergraduate work I taught general music at an elementary school, and did my student teaching as an instrumental teacher in an elementary school, and as a band teacher in a middle school. In my junior year I spent three weeks teaching in Uganda, where I taught high school aged beginners and intermediate brass and percussionists. After those first two books I move them into the Rubank Intermediate Series of books. Teaching beginning Clarinet is one of my specialties. Generally speaking, I use the Belwind Band builder and Standard of Excellence method books to teach fundamentals of the Clarinet. I also mix my own teaching style, especially forming an embouchure (how one's lips and teach rest on the mouth piece).
