I'm a cellist who loves to teach students of all ages and levels. I have experience with beginners, intermediate, and advanced students (ages 7-adult). As I said, I encourage creativity and love for music by introducing students to the freedom of improvisation. While I work on classical training, classical technique, and classical repertoire, the improvisation is a judgement free zone where creativity is encouraged. I grew up with music all around me. Both of my parents play classical instruments like the cello and violin. My childhood home was filled with sounds of classical and chamber music. Therefore, it is not so surprising that I too chose to move in the direction of music. I went to Bard College with no clear intent on what to do, but I continued to play in orchestras and chamber music groups, and knew that no matter which degree I chose, that I would always love playing the cello. As an instructor, its important to me that my students are developing both their skills and their love for music at an equal rate. I do this by assigning exercises and material that will be both rewarding and fun for the student. I also set timely goals so that they have something to look forward to in their next lesson. I attended the Manhattan School of Music where I studied with David Geber. After attending MSM I stayed in NYC to pursue a career in cello performance and teaching. Working as a Teaching Artist in NY state has been one of the most fulfilling jobs of my life.
