When teaching young children and beginners, I use the Suzuki method. I have been certified in pre-book 1 and book 1 of the Suzuki method by the legendary educator Tanya Carey. For older/more advanced students, I use a series of methods taught to me by the renowned cellist and pedagogue Robert Jesselson, whose teachings have lead me to where I am today, and have produced cellists of the highest quality that can be found among the worlds greatest orchestras and institutions. For beginning students, I typically start with the Suzuki Method while combining it with the Essential Elements Method. As the student learns the fundamentals I gradually add scales and exercises to further develop the student's technique. After further progress, I begin to introduce solo repertoire and add other pieces. I'm fairly flexible on what pieces the student may play in the lessons, as long as the rudiments and classic repertoire are covered. Read More
